Each hopper is 4-ft by 4-ft has a gross weight of
1500 lb and when applied across its area results in a 93.75 psf live load. This live load is accounted
for in the 125 psf live load design. The worst-case scenarios for the hopper point loading have also
been checked.
2) Aside from the hoppers mentioned in item 1),the platform supports no other equipment. The other
equipment shown on the plans is ground supported and the platform is used for accessing the top
of the equipment.
3) The seismic system used from Chapter 15,table 15.4-1 is the Steel Ordinary Moment Frames with
Unlimited Height. Per table 15.4-1,the structure need not be detailed per AISC 341,but must meet
AISC 360.See calculation sheet 4/81.
4) The addition and original structure have been designed to function as one complete unit. The
complete unit complies with the seismic system as described in item 3).
5) Each thru-bolt is only bolted through one face of the column and does not pass through both faces
of the column. This way there is no conflict between bolts.A top-down view has been added to the
detail to clarify this.
BEND• DENVER• MISSOULA• PORTLAND•SPOKANE•WHITEFISH c eclipse-engineering.com
