Drew Martin
From: Drew Martin
Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2022 3:02 PM
To: Martin Reimers
Subject: City of Everett Permit Services: 3332 Colby Avenue (B2210-002) - First Building Intake
Review
Hello, Martin
Your application has been received and a permit set up. However, the submitted documents are not
sufficiently developed for us to perform a comprehensive review at this time.
Revised construction-level documents should be submitted for review. Two complete sets of the revised
drawings should be submitted to replace the previously submitted drawing sets. Preliminary comments are
provided below to assist in revising the drawings, but these are not intended to provide a comprehensive
review. The resubmittal documents should include an itemized response letter clarifying how the review
comments below have been addressed.
Intake Review Comments:
1. Structural drawings are required for the proposed project. The information included in the
architectural drawings is not of sufficient clarity or development to allow a review of the structural
systems to be reviewed. Notable issues include but are not limited to: foundations, beams, roof joists,
columns, and connections between framing members. Structural material and construction notes are
also required. Note that information contained in a structural calculations package does not satisfy
this requirement as calculations are not issued for construction. See IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 1603.1.
2. The structural drawings are required to be sealed and signed by a professional engineer licensed in the
state of Washington. See RCW Section 18.43.010, 18.43.020, and 18.43.070.
3. The "Codes" section on Sheet A0.1 states that the Construction Type is "VB". However, the "Code
Analysis" section on Sheet A0.2 indicates Type "11113". Based on a review of the records on the City of
Everett website, the Type should be "VA". The available records should be reviewed to determine the
correct construction type. The type should be stated consistently in the construction drawings. Note
that modifications to the design may be required, including but not limited to fire-rated
construction. See IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 602.1.
Review of your project will be performed in the order received once the required documentation has been
submitted. Please let me know if you have questions.
- Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
Associate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8810 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT Phone Hours: M/W/T: 8 am - 12 pm & 1 pm—3 pm;Tu: 1:OOpm-3:OOpm
everettwa.gov/permits I Facebook I Twitter
Note:Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
1
