Environmental Engineering
Construction Testing and Inspection
Field
Report NO.: 09623538DFRIO1723ECHI
DATE: 10/17/2023 Set Count: CONTRACTOR: Manny Eco
PROJECT #: 09623538 PERMIT #:
PROJECT: Manny Eco SFR INSPECTOR: Eddie Canfield / Haris Ichwan
LOCATION: 7808 Beverly Blvd, Everett JURISDICTION: City of Everett
KA P.M.: Jeff Mercer WEATHER: Cloudy TEMP: 50
Krazan representatives visited the project site today to perform construction observations and materials testing. During our
time on site, we performed the following operations:
Reinforcing Steel Placement
-We observed the placement of reinforcing steel for the new crawl space footings (see site photos under Concrete Placement
for locations). The reinforcing steel consisted mainly of two (2) continuous grade 40 #4 dowels. We verified the placement of
reinforcing steel for size, grade, count, spacing, clearances, lap, bar cleanliness, and general overall placement. In our opinion,
the reinforcing steel for the footings was placed in general conformance to the approved structural plans and specifications
(4/S2.1) with the following exceptions:
-The spot footings near the middle of the new crawl spaces were intended to have two (2) continuous #4 dowels. The
contractor asked if they could wet -set the reinforcements and we informed them that they should not unless they have
contacted the engineer for approval. The contractor opted to not pour the spot footings today.
Site Photos:
Drill & Epoxy
-Today, the contractor installed fourteen (14) grade 40 #4 dowels into the existing stem wall for the new stem wall horizontal
dowels (see site photos under Concrete Placement for locations). The holes for installation were drilled with a 5/8" diameter
drill bit to a depth of 4". The holes were then cleaned with compressed air and a wire brush until they appeared to be free of
dust and debris. Simpson SET-XP (expiration:12/28/23) was utilized to fill the holes prior to twisting and inserting the #4
dowels until bottomed out and epoxy was seen extruding from the holes.
Note: The two (2) continuous #4 dowels installed into each of the existing footing had been epoxied prior to our arrival on
site. There are five (5) locations where the new crawl space foundation is doweled into the existing footing (for ten [10] total
dowels installed without our observations). Depth, cleanliness of holes, and epoxy type was not observed.
Site Photos:
Offices Serving the Western United States
Lynnwood (425) 485-5519 • Poulsbo (360) 598-2126 • Tacoma (253) 939-2500
The information provided on this report is prepared for the exclusive use of the client This report may not be reproduced in any format without the written permission of the client and Krazan & Associates.
