The
sprinkler bracing should be either replaced or reviewed by the sprinkler installer for the new
location.
As the photo in Figure 2 shows, there is a 3,000-pound maximum load rating per-shelf that is
clearly posted on each frame. Per our calculations, the rack framing has adequate capacity to
resist the rated load adequately, based on maintaining the current beam and post spacing. As
noted above, the installer should verify the connection, which cannot be observed at this time.
Conclusions and Recommendations
The storage rack beams and posts appear to be acceptable for the 3,000-pound-per-shelf load
limit noted on their signage. The storage rack posts shall be adequately secured to the slab on
grade at the new installation location, per details in the structural drawings. Beam-to-post
connection shall be reviewed by the installer and must be adequately fastened to meet
manufacturer requirements. All connection holes shall be filled at each connection.
Exclusions and Limitations
Reid Middleton's findings are based on visual observations only.No destructive or material
testing was performed as part of this assessment. The rack members and materials are
assumed to meet the manufacturer's specifications and have not been altered or damaged. See
the calculations for additional information about members and materials. During the
relocation, rack elements should be reviewed by the installer and any damage should be
reported immediately. Connections cannot be verified without rack disassembly and should
also be reviewed by the installer,to verify that they meet the manufacturer's requirements.
Further, it is our assumption that the existing slab system at Building 40-03 matches or
exceeds the slab thickness in Building 40-31. Our design assumes that the slab at both
buildings is slab on grade and does not occur over basement or utility vault locations.
If you have any questions or comments, please call me.
in S cerley,
KAN
was I-<
O
•
t van
Paul Crocker, P.E., S.E. 121a r37358 44'w 9/11/2023
Principal Engineer ` eUL Er` '
SIpNAL
Attachments: Structural calculations for existing rack framing capacities.
ehw\O:\23\057 Bldg 40-05 PRIT PRAT Tool Relocation\Reports\2023.08.31 Observed Existing Condition of Storage Racks
-Letter.docx\sh
Reid iddleton
313
