B. Existing materials and equipment indicated to be removed, but not to be re-used, relocated, <br /> reinstalled, delivered to the Owner, or otherwise indicated as to remain the property of the <br /> Owner, become the property of the Contractor; remove from site. <br /> C. Specific Products to be Reused: The reuse of certain materials and equipment already existing <br /> on the project site is required. <br /> 1. See Section 01 1000 for list of items required to be salvaged for reuse and relocation. <br /> 2.02 PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS (SUBSTITUTIONS) <br /> A. No alternate roofing specifications will be permitted. For any items specified as an "acceptable <br /> substitute," Contractor shall provide submittals for approval by the roofing consultant and the <br /> owner's representative. Contractor assumes all liability and costs associated thereof for <br /> installing any item not previously approved in writing by the owner's representative. <br /> B. Where the Contractor proposes to use a substitute product or a product to be considered as an <br /> "or equal"for a named material or a basis of design item, the Contractor shall submit to the <br /> Designer complete information and working drawings for such substitute item, including all <br /> necessary redesign of the system to which it is a part. <br /> C. All such redesign and all new drawings and detailing required therefore shall be prepared by <br /> the Contractor at the Contractor's expense. Where the substitution of any item or items requires <br /> a different quantity and arrangement of structure, partitions, foundations, piping, ductwork, <br /> wiring, conduit, and equipment from that specified or indicated on the Contract Drawings, the <br /> Contractor shall include the total cost of such changes as well as the necessary Designer <br /> consultation necessary to support and detail the changes, in the submittal for consideration. It <br /> shall be expressly understood that all materials named shall be furnished in full accordance <br /> with the Contract Drawings and/or Specifications. <br /> D. Owner and Consultant/ Designer reserve the right to refuse any such request for a product to <br /> be considered an approved equal by the Contractor. <br /> E. The complete and salient characteristics of materials specified by Manufacturers product <br /> number or trade name are applicable to the requirements for substitution consideration, even if <br /> the complete and salient characteristics of the specified material are not listed herein. <br /> F. The attention of the Contractor is especially directed to the requirement that, if the Contractor <br /> proposes to substitute materials or equipment as "equals"to those specified, it shall be the <br /> Contractor's responsibility to furnish complete, specific, detailed information from the <br /> manufacturer or supplier of the material or equipment he proposes to furnish, in which the <br /> requirements of the contract specifications are shown to be met, 15 working days before onsite <br /> project mobilization. Failure to submit substitute materials or equipment as"equals" 15 days <br /> before onsite project mobilization will eliminate the substitute material from consideration as an <br /> "equal"to the specified product. The information requested shall consist of a point by point <br /> comparison of the contract specification requirements with the material or equipment proposed <br /> to be furnished. If the contract specifications mention a model number and manufacturer, a <br /> point by point comparison of the complete and salient equipment characteristics of the listed <br /> model number specified under the contract and the proposed substitutes shall be furnished by <br /> the Contractor. In the event the contract specification indicates a requirement for substitute <br /> materials request to submit a specific number of operating systems and total duration of <br /> operation for each system, the Contractor shall submit the name of the owner, length of service, <br /> current contact person and title, current phone number and size of the system. The requirement <br /> for a specific number of operating systems and duration of operation for substitute materials is <br /> applicable, even if the specified product does not meet these requirements. The burden of <br /> responsibility in furnishing this information is with the Contractor. If incomplete or irrelevant data <br /> is submitted as evidence of compliance with this section of the specifications, the data will be <br /> returned to the Contractor and the request for approval will be denied.
