point with each delivery. All roofing products shall bear Underwriter Laboratories (U.L.) labels. <br /> Materials shall be clean, dry, and free from damage and stored on pallets. <br /> E. Delivery and storage of roll goods shall be in closed vans, containers or covered with tarpaulins <br /> nightly. No materials shall be allowed to remain on the roof overnight unless set on pallets and <br /> fully protected with waterproof tarpaulins. Any material left unprotected on the roof overnight <br /> shall be immediately removed and replaced at the Contractor's expense with no exception. <br /> F. Use of manufacturer's product protection wrapping is not acceptable for worksite type <br /> protection. To prevent moisture accumulation, wrapping shall be punctured or slashed before <br /> covering with canvas or polyethylene tarpaulins. <br /> G. Protective covering shall be applied in a watertight manner and securely attached during and at <br /> the end of each working day. No holes or tears in the covering shall be acceptable. <br /> H. Store metal sheets or panels so that water accumulations will drain freely. Do not store sheets <br /> or panels in contact with other materials which might cause staining. <br /> I. Stack lumber, plywood, and other panels in a manner so as to provide air circulation within and <br /> around stacks and under temporary coverings. <br /> J. When the ambient temperature drops below 50o Fahrenheit, cold process mastics and <br /> adhesives shall be kept in a warm environment. Refer to manufacturer's guidelines for storage <br /> and handling. <br /> K. Store rolled materials on end unless otherwise indicated by the manufacturer. Do not use rolls <br /> of felt in roofing system that have been flattened out of round. <br /> L. Select and handle materials and equipment in such a way as to avoid damage to materials and <br /> existing roof construction. No storage of materials or traffic shall be allowed on the completed <br /> roof. <br /> M. Do not load or permit any part of a structure to be loaded with a weight that shall endanger its <br /> safety or cause damage. Confine equipment, storage of materials and debris and the <br /> operations and movements of workers within the limits as indicated or as directed by the Owner <br /> and Owner's Representative. <br /> N. Storage of materials should not block entrance ways to the building or the roof. Access to the <br /> building will be verified and coordinated with the Owner and Owner's Representative. <br /> O. Contractor must take every precaution to prevent interior leakage, materials falling into interior <br /> or other such occurrences. Installation of materials shall be accomplished in such a manner <br /> that material drippage does not occur. <br /> P. Any wet, damaged, or defective material shall be removed from the job site by Contractor as <br /> soon as discovered. This material shall be promptly replaced at no cost to the Owner. <br /> Q. Use only kettles and/or tankers that have automatic thermostats to control the bitumen <br /> temperature, including accurate thermometers that are clean and easy to read. <br /> R. Do not allow bitumen to be heated above the finished blowing temperature. If bitumen is heated <br /> above the finished blowing temperature, discontinue application until bitumen is allowed to cool <br /> to an acceptable temperature. Asphalt that is heated above the finished blowing temperature <br /> beyond four hours shall be discarded and not used for the roof system. <br /> S. Verify that all materials are protected before, during and after arrival at the job site. Verify that <br /> all materials have been adequately protected from moisture and freezing damage while in <br /> transit. <br /> T. Keep lids tightly sealed on all emulsions, cut back adhesives, and flashing cements to keep <br /> volatiles from escaping. <br /> U.
