SECTION 06 1000 <br /> ROUGH CARPENTRY <br /> SECTION 06 1000 <br /> PART 1 -GENERAL <br /> 1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS: <br /> A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary <br /> Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, shall apply to this Section. <br /> 1.02 SUMMARY OF WORK: <br /> A. This Section Includes: <br /> 1. Deck framing with dimension lumber <br /> 2. Wood deck repair and replacement <br /> 3. Wood blocking, cants, and nailers <br /> 4. Plywood backer board <br /> 5. Wood curbs and platforms <br /> B. Definitions: <br /> 1. Rough Carpentry: Carpentry work not specified in other Sections and not exposed unless <br /> otherwise specified. <br /> 2. Exposed Framing: Dimension lumber not concealed by other construction and indicated to <br /> receive a stained or natural or painted finish. <br /> 1.03 REFERENCE STANDARDS: <br /> A. Safety: The contractor is responsible for being familiar with and enforcing safety regulations, <br /> rules, and practices as prescribed in related sections. <br /> B. Wind Loss: Factory Mutual System Loss Prevention Data Sheet 1-49 for Wind Uplift Pressures <br /> on Perimeter Roof Edges. <br /> C. State and City Building Codes. <br /> 1.04 SUBMITTALS: <br /> A. Product Data: <br /> 1. Spec Data Sheets for materials proposed. <br /> 2. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) <br /> 3. ANSI/SPRI ES-1 fastener pattern for attachment of perimeter wood nailers and blocking. <br /> 1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE: <br /> A. Applicator: shall specialize in the type of work being specified. <br /> B. Application: Accomplish rough carpentry work with supervisor, foreman, and mechanics <br /> thoroughly skilled in the application of the specified materials. Workmanship shall meet industry <br /> standards and shall fulfill the requirements of the Contract Documents. <br /> 1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING: <br /> A. Keep materials under cover and dry. Protect materials from the weather and contact with wet or <br /> damp surfaces. Stack lumber, plywood, and other panels. Provide for air circulation within and <br /> around stacks and under temporary coverings. <br /> PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> 2.01 LUMBER, GENERAL: <br /> A. Standards: Comply with DOC PS20, "American Softwood Lumber Standard", and with <br /> applicable grading rules of inspection agencies certified by ALSC's Board Review. <br /> B.
