1. ASTM D 412 - Standard Test Methods for Vulcanized Rubber and Thermoplastic
Elastomers-Tension.
2. ASTM C 1289 - Standard Specification for Faced Rigid Cellular Polyisocyanu rate Thermal
Insulation Board
3. ASTM D 6878 - Standard Specification for Thermoplastic Polyolefin Based Sheet Roofing.
4. ASTM D1621 - Compressive Properties of Rigid Cellular Plastics
5. ASTM D1622 -Apparent Density of Rigid Cellular Plastics
6. ASTM D2126- Response of Rigid Cellular Plastics to Thermal and Humid Aging
7. ASTM D3273- 16 Standard Test Method for Resistance to Growth of Mold on the Surface
of Interior Coatings in an Environmental Chamber
8. ASTM E84 - Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials
9. ASTM E96/E96M -Water Vapor Transmission of Materials
H. Underwriter's Laboratories:
1. UL Class A or B
2. UL 1256 - Fire Test of Roof Deck Constructions
1.05 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
A. General: Provide installed roofing membrane, insulation boards, base flashing system and
other related flashings and accessories that will remain watertight, will not permit the passage
of water, and resist specified uplift pressures, thermally induced movement, and exposure to
weather, without failure. Install products for a complete roofing system that can be warranted by
the manufacturer for a period of twenty years.
B. Material Compatibility: Provide roofing materials that are compatible with one another under
conditions of service and application required, as demonstrated by roofing membrane
manufacturer, based on testing and field experience.
C. Wind Resistance:
1. Refer to Design Criteria in the project drawing set.
2. In cases where the roof/deck assembly lacks testing data, contractor shall perform a
minimum of 10 pull tests (to failure)with the roof membrane and insulation fasteners to
determine the minimum, maximum and average pull-out resistance. Outliers shall be
omitted, and the average value shall be used to determine the minimum fastener
frequency for attaching the roof system. Contractor shall submit data to the roofing
manufacturer named in the bid for verification of the fastener frequency and patterns
required to meet the minimum requirements outlined in the construction documents.
3. After determining the design wind uplift pressures (including the safety factor) on the roof
and fastener pull out resistance, contractor shall secure the roof insulation, membrane,
and edge flashing products to comply with the design, performance and installation
requirements as demonstrated by the manufacturer's independent testing and in
accordance with one of the following recognized authorities:
a. Factory Mutual Global (FMG) Loss Prevention Data Sheets:
1) Bulletin 1-29, latest edition, Roof Deck Securement and Above Deck Roof
Components
2) Bulletin 1-49, latest edition, for Wind Uplift Pressures on Roof Edges.
b. ANSI/SPRI:
1) Bulletin WD-1, "Wind Design Standard Practice for Roofing Assemblies"
2) Bulletin FM 4435/ES-1, "Wind Design Standards for Edge Systems Used with
Low Slope Roofing Systems"
D. External fire Resistance: System components shall have been tested in accordance with ASTM
E 108, with a Class A rating for application and roof slopes indicated, as determined by testing
identical membrane roofing materials by a qualified testing agency. Materials shall be identified
with appropriate markings of applicable testing agency. The roof system assembly shall also
meet or exceed an Underwriter's Laboratories' (UL) Class A rating as tested in accordance with
test method UL- 790.
SEA00511 / Prologis - SEA00511 07 5400 - 2 THERMOPLASTIC MEMBRANE
- FY24- Everett 1 - Capital ROOF SYSTEM
Roofing Project
