3.06 COUNTER FLASHINGS <br /> A. Coordinate installation of counterflashing with installation of roofing to be protected by <br /> counterflashing. Secure in a waterproof manner by means of snap-in installation and sealant, <br /> interlocking folded seam, or blind rivets and sealant. Lap counterflashing joints a minimum of 3 <br /> inches (50 mm) and bed with sealant. <br /> B. Install sections of sheet metal starting from the low side of the roof so that water runs over the <br /> lap and not against it. Secure laps with pop rivets to match the material being fastened. <br /> C. Surface-mounted reglets shall be set into a bed of sealant tape and then fastened with <br /> appropriate grommeted fasteners. <br /> D. Secure shop fabricated counterflashing or reglets a minimum of 8" on center with appropriate <br /> fasteners and seal the heads with caulking. <br /> E. Reglets with slotted holes shall be fastened a minimum of 16" on center with appropriate <br /> fasteners through a minimum 3/4" diameter sealing bearing washer. <br /> F. Splash Pans: Floor mount pans under drainpipes and downspouts. <br /> G. Roof-Penetration Flashing: Coordinate roof-penetration flashing installation with roofing and <br /> installation of items penetrating roof. <br /> 3.07 CLEANING AND PROTECTION <br /> A. Clean exposed metal surfaces, removing substances that might cause corrosion of metal or <br /> deterioration of finishes. <br /> B.
