This proposal outlines a
comprehensive three-session program designed to enhance the board members’ understanding
of their advisory role, equip them with effective tools for engagement, and build their capacity to
provide constructive feedback. Grounded in the Guiding Principles of A.L.O.H.A (Ask, Listen,
Observe, Heart-focus, Adapt), this program focuses on fostering relationships and empowering
the board to fulfill their role as community liaisons and advocates. Additionally, the program will
integrate the Indigenous values of Kuleana (responsibility), Pono (balance), Lōkahi (harmony),
and Pilina (connection) to deepen understanding and practice of the advisory role.

Jan 23, 2025
Simone Tarver
