<br />SECTION 26 01 00 - BASIC ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
<br />PART 1-GENERAL
<br />1.1 SECTION INCLUDES
<br />A. Electrical materials and installation instruction common to most electrical systems and
<br />components including but not limited to: equipment, raceways, fittings, sleeve/seals,
<br />sleeves, wires and connectors, conductors, demolition, equipment installation
<br />requirements common to equipment sections, painting and finishing, concrete bases,
<br />supports and anchorages, general coordination, electrical wiring and device coordination.
<br />1.2 DEFINITIONS
<br />A. Following is a list of abbreviations generally used in Division 26.
<br />1. AHJ —
<br />Authority Having Jurisdiction.
<br />2. ETL —
<br />Electric Testing Laboratories.
<br />3. NEC —
<br />National Electric Code.
<br />4. NEMA—
<br />National Electrical Manufacturers Association.
<br />5. NFPA
<br />— National Fire Protection Association.
<br />6. OSHA
<br />— Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
<br />7. UL — Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
<br />B. Terms used on the drawings or in the specifications shall have the following meanings:
<br />1. Approved Equal: An Item suggested by the Contractor that is allowed by the
<br />Engineer to replace an item listed in the Specifications or Drawings. The burden
<br />of proof of equality is the responsibility of the Contractor.
<br />2. Furnish: Supply and deliver, ready for installation, assembly or intended use, all
<br />materials, labor, equipment, testing apparatus, controls, tests, accessories, and all
<br />other items customarily required for the proper and complete application for the
<br />particular work referred to.
<br />3. Install: Includes unloading, unpacking, assembling, erecting, installation, applying,
<br />finishing, protecting, cleaning and similar operations at the project site as required
<br />to complete all items of work as required for the intended use/operation including
<br />all testing, certification, commissioning, and other requirements for final turnover
<br />to the Owner.
<br />4. Provide: "Furnish" and "Install."
<br />5. Owner Furnished, Contractor Installed: The Owner will furnish at his cost and the
<br />Contractor shall receive, protect, store and install in the performance of the Work.
<br />6. Finished Spaces: Spaces other than electrical equipment rooms, furred spaces,
<br />pipe and duct shafts, unheated spaces immediately below roof, spaces above
<br />ceilings, unexcavated spaces, crawlspaces, and tunnels.
<br />7. Exposed, Exterior Installations: Exposed to view outdoors or subject to outdoor
<br />ambient temperatures and weather conditions. Examples include rooftop
<br />locations.
<br />8. Concealed, Interior Installations: Concealed from view and protected from physical
<br />contact by building occupants. Examples include installations above ceilings, in
<br />shafts, trenches, partitions, or other enclosures.
<br />9. Concealed, Exterior Installations: Concealed from view and protected from
<br />weather conditions and physical contact by building occupants but subject to
<br />outdoor ambient temperatures. Examples include installations embedded in or
