The design has been revised in response to the original comment to located Carports 2, 3, and <br /> 4 at least 5 feet from the property lines. However, Carport 1 is located less than 20 feet from <br /> the existing"R-2"building with a "V-A"construction. An imaginary property line must be <br /> established between the structures and the respective fire separation distances (FSD) specified. <br /> It is noted that the existing building may not have sufficient construction for the proposed FSD <br /> without modifications. Alternatively, Carport 1 should be redesigned to provide the minimum <br /> FSD without modifications. See IBC Table 602. <br /> Structural <br /> 1. This comment has not been addressed. Calculation pages 22 and 23 referenced in the <br /> response do not provide a splitting analysis of the foundation to verify that confinement will be <br /> maintained in the footings to preclude failure of the structure. Footing Detail 01/52.0 should be <br /> provided with top reinforcement per ACI 318-14 Section 10.7.6.1.6. Alternatively, an analysis <br /> per Section 17.2.3.5.3 should be performed to substantiate that splitting of the foundation does <br /> not occur from flexural restraint of the embedded posts.
