Mr. Caleb Widen
Widen Construction, LLC
Plan Check Number: B2302-115, First Building Review
June 16, 2023
6. Details should be provided for the construction of the deck guards. The guard design should
comply with the Section R312.1. The guards, connections to the supporting framing, and the
supporting framing should be designed to resist a minimum 250-pound load per Table R301.5.
7. Headers should comply with IRC Section R602.7. King and jamb studs should be specified for
each header per Section R602.7.5. added to framing plan re-submittal
8. The locations and construction of the braced wall panels should be shown in the construction
drawings. The Shear Wall Schedule in the construction drawings is not coordinated with the
plans; use of the schedule requires engineering. Alternatively, a prescriptive design per Section
R602.10 should be specified. See Section R106.1.3. added to framing plan re-submittal
9. The Stair Section Detail specifies "(3) 2x12"stair joists. The spacing of the joists should be
specified and should comply with Table R302.3.1(2) considering a minimum 40 psf live load.
added to framing plan re-submittal
10.The construction drawings should specify coating cuts, notches, and holes in preservative-
treated wood with a treatment complying with AWPA M4. See Section R317.1.1.
11.The roof eaves extend 16 inches from the exterior wall face per the Typical Section on Sheet 2.
The sheathing at the rake edges is required to be provided with structural support. A detail
should be included in the drawings. See Section R803.2.3.Refer to structural notes
12.The second story wall construction at the north and south walls is anticipated to be
discontinuous at the truss bottom chords and not continue to the roof sheathing. The drawings
should include a detail bracing the top of the walls. The bracing should be designed for the
minimum out-of-plane loading per Table R301.2. See Sections R301.1, R601.2, and
R602.3.Refer to structural notes.
This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and
amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made
during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit
requirements. The designers-of-record are responsible for a complete design in accordance with
the laws of the state of Washington.
If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact us.
Respectfully,
Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer/ Commercial Plans Examiner
(425)257-8813
dmartin©everettwa.gov
S:\BMartin\2023\B2302-115_Rl.docx
0 3200 Cedar Street © 425.257.8810 O everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett, WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov/permits
Page 4 of 4
