GeoTest Services, Inc. February 10, 2021
Tucker Short Plat, Everett,WA Project Number: 21-17OG
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF SERVICES
The purpose of our services is to obtain subsurface information at the project site that will be
used in the design phase for the above project. Our final product will be a suitably illustrated
geotechnical report containing a summary of site conditions encountered with geotechnical
engineering recommendations pertaining to project design and construction.
Specifically, our services will include the following:
1. Call in a One-Call public utility locate as required by Washington State Law. GeoTest is
not responsible for mismarked or unlocatable utilities.
2. Explore the soil and groundwater conditions underlying the project site by advancing
between 2 and 4 exploration test pits within the area of interest with a subcontracted
backhoe or tracked excavator. GeoTest anticipates at least one test pit per property,
excavated to approximately 8 to 10 feet deep, but may expand coverage based on our
findings. Excavations would occur adjacent to the house and would be backfilled upon
the completion of our excavations. GeoTest will make reasonable attempts to grade the
excavation areas flat, but there will still be visual indications for our presence upon the
completion of our studies. Our budget does not include for landscaping or similar
remediations.
3. GeoTest Services will review the information collected during our investigation and
perform geotechnical engineering analyses to develop recommendations for the project.
Our findings and recommendations will be summarized in a report that will contain the
following information:
• A site plan showing pertinent existing site features and the approximate location of
the explorations accomplished for this project. The site plan provided for this proposal
should be suitable for this purpose.
• Logs and results of the exploratory subsurface testing. A chart will be included
illustrating the soil classification criteria and the terminology and symbols used on the
exploration log.
• Laboratory determinations of soil classification and engineering properties. Provide
an assessment of the on-site infiltration capability based on USDA textural
classification on at least 2 soil samples in general accordance with the Stormwater
Management Manual for Western Washington. GeoTest will also submit a total of 2
to 4 soil samples for pH, organic content, and cation exchange capacity to address the
suitability of soils for the purposes of on-site treatment feasibility.
• A summary of surface and subsurface soil and groundwater conditions observed at
the site during our field exploration. The summary will include subsurface profiles of
bearing stratum and discuss the potential seasonal effects of groundwater.
2
