Access -The International Fire Code requires that all new structures shall provide Fire <br /> Department access roads to within 150 feet exterior walking distance of all portions of the <br /> ground floor. Fire Department access roads (Fire Lanes) shall provide a minimum of 20 <br /> feet in width of unobstructed, paved driving surface, exclusive of shoulders, with a minimum <br /> clear height of 13'6". Inside turn radii must be 35 feet. Outside turn radii must be 55 <br /> feet for ladder apparatus. Slope approach and departure angles must not exceed 8 <br /> degrees. Fire lane grade must not exceed 10 percent. Fire lane construction must <br /> comply with AASHTO H30 load capacity (74,000 GVW). Fire Lanes will be posted and <br /> maintained as required by the Fire Department. Unorthodox access which meets code <br /> requirements but is too unusual for crews, will not be allowed. Call Fire Marshal's <br /> Office for apparatus specifications. <br /> Turnarounds Required - Roads with a length of 0-150 feet must be 20 feet wide; no <br /> turnaround required, 60'-diameter cul-de-sac is permitted. <br /> 2. Access -.O.K. as shown on the site plan reviewed. <br /> 3. Knox Boxes are required. 2015 IFC, 506.1 . <br /> Go to www.everettfire.gov. Order recessed boxes #3270 <br /> a. Sprinkler room door <br /> b. Lobby entrance <br /> c. Exterior staircase doors <br /> 4. Knox fire department connection caps are required for all OUTSIDE FDC and <br /> standpipe connection points. Order cap #3043 for FDC. <br /> 5. Fire lanes shall be provided as required in Everett Municipal Code 46.44. Fire lanes <br /> shall be identified by red curbs with white stenciling stating "NO PARKING - FIRE <br /> LANE" and vertical signs stating "NO PARKING — FIRE LANE —TOW AWAY ZONE <br /> — EMC 46.28.130". Location shall be approved by the Fire Code Official.
