Environmental Health <br />a. Are there any environmental health hazards, including exposure to toxic chemicals, risk <br />of fire and explosion, spill, or hazardous waste, that could occur as a result of this proposal? <br />If so, describe. <br />The project site is part of the old Weyerhaeuser Mill complex that operated along the <br />Snohomish River waterfront for decades. Soils on the site at and below the surface <br />existing at the time of Weyerhaeuser operations are affected by arsenic contamination <br />generated by a long -ago demolished upwind ASARCO smelter and by contaminants <br />generated by Weyerhaeuser. Although clean-up measures were implemented by <br />Weyerhaeuser, some contamination remains and protocols are in place for how the soils <br />on the site are to be handled during development. <br />Describe any known or possible contamination at the site from present or past uses. <br />See above narrative. <br />1) Describe existing hazardous chemicals/conditions that might affect project development <br />and design.
