7. Environmental Health Jhelpj <br /> a. Are there any environmental health hazards, including exposure to toxic chemicals, risk <br /> of fire and explosion, spill, or hazardous waste, that could occur as a result of this proposal? <br /> If so, describe.Jhelpl <br /> 1) Describe any known or possible contamination at the site from present or past uses. <br /> Jhelpl <br /> There is no known or suspected site contamination. <br /> 2) Describe existing hazardous chemicals/conditions that might affect project development <br /> and design. This includes underground hazardous liquid and gas transmission pipelines <br /> located within the project area and in the vicinity.Jhelpj <br /> No superfund sites are located within a mile of the project site. Seven sites of potential <br /> concern are located within'Y mile of the project site.None of the seven sites are likely to <br /> impact the project site. <br /> 3) Describe any toxic or hazardous chemicals that might be stored, used, or produced <br /> during the project's development or construction, or at any time during the operating <br /> life of the project. Jhelpl <br /> The project construction will require diesel,oil,hydraulic-fluid,and antifreeze for construction <br /> equipment. Construction activities will include concrete and asphalt paving,welding,painting, <br /> and gluing. These activities often include chemicals,lubricants,and cleaning solvents. <br /> During the operation and maintenance of the proposed transit center,buses will use diesel,oil <br /> and antifreeze. Building and shelter cleaning will use commercial cleaning products designed <br /> for the specific cleaning application. <br /> 4) Describe special emergency services that might be required. Jhe►pj <br /> No special emergency services are required.Should an emergency take place,local police,fire, <br /> and medical units should cover any immediate needs. General contractor will be required to <br /> have and post the phone and routes to the nearest medical offices,as part of the site-specific <br /> health and safety plans. <br /> 5) Proposed measures to reduce or control environmental health hazards, if any: 'help], <br /> During construction,the contractor will be required to provide a site specific health and safety <br /> plan. MSDS sheets for all potentially hazardous materials will be required. The contractor will <br /> be required to have an official representative on site to address potential spills and to notify <br /> offices,if the need arises. A Spill Kit will be maintained on-site during construction and once <br /> the facility is in operation,and is a typical BMP to address the possibility of engine oil,minor <br /> hydraulic fluid leaks,antifreeze,and similar risks. No activities with the potential for <br /> operational hazards to environmental health are proposed or probable. <br /> b.
