If so,
describe.
No slumping or major cracks in the asphalt can be observed on the Property and immediate vicinity,
indicating unstable soils are not likely in the immediate vicinity.
e. Describe the purpose, type, total area, and approximate quantities and total affected area of any
filling, excavation, and grading proposed. Indicate source of fill.
The purpose of the Proposal is to excavate, remove and dispose of the contaminated soil onsite. The total
excavation area is approximately 4,500 square feet with an approximate average excavation depth of 13
feet. The proposal for this Property includes the excavation of approximately 2,475 cubic yards of soil,
which 100 cubic yards or 1500 tons are expected to be petroleum-contaminated material(soil). The area
of excavation will be backfilled with structural fill that includes(from bottom of excavation to top):
quarry spoil, suitable on-site clean overburden soils, clean free draining non-organic gravel or sand with
5%max passing#4 sieve, and 30%minimum retained on the#4 sieve, 6 inches of 5/8 inch minus crushed
rock, and 4 inches of hot mix asphalt.
f. Could erosion occur as a result of clearing, construction,or use? If so,generally describe.
No. Erosion could not occur as a result of demolition or excavation activities.
g. About what percent of the site will be covered with impervious surfaces after project
construction(for example,asphalt or buildings)?
100%, no change from existing
h. Proposed measures to reduce or control erosion,or other impacts to the earth,if any:
A shoring wall will be completed on the south-excavation wall along the existing detail shop building
subsequent to demolition, prior to starting any excavation work. All excavation walls will comply with
the angle of repose and protected during periods of in climate weather with plastic sheeting.
2.Air
a. What types of emissions to the air would result from the proposal during construction, operation, and
maintenance when the project is completed? If any, generally describe and give approximate
quantities if known.
Diesel exhaust emissions will be produced during demolition and remediation work from heavy
equipment. Dust will not be generated during demolition or excavation and will be controlled by use of
water, if any dust generation is noted. No operations or maintenance work is included with the proposed
scope of the project. The completed project will not produce any emmisions to the air.
b. Are there any off-site sources of emissions or odor that may affect your proposal? If so,
generally describe.
SEPA Environmental checklist(WAC 197-11.960) July 2016 Page 4 of 16
