Section 4: Ordinance No. 1902-92 is hereby amended by the addition of the following <br /> section: <br /> Fire Suppression. An approved automatic fire suppression system is required and <br /> shall be installed and maintained in an operable condition as specified in this chapter <br /> in the following locations: <br /> 1. All fire areas that contain a Group H, I, R or S-1 mini-storage occupancy; <br /> 2. All fire areas that are greater than 5,000 square feet that contain A-2 or E <br /> occupancies; <br /> 3. All fire areas that are greater than 6,000 square feet that contain any of the <br /> following occupancies: A (except A-2), B, F, M, S, U. <br /> Exception: Open parking garages of Type I construction less than sixty- <br /> five feet in height as defined by the Everett Building Code. <br /> 4. For occupancies listed under subsections 2 and 3 of this section, a maximum of <br /> two non-sprinklered fire areas are permitted in any building. <br /> Section 5: Section 4 of Ordinance No. 1902-92 (EMC 16.76.040), which reads as <br /> follows: <br /> Installation. <br /> All approved automatic fire suppression systems and approved automatic fire <br /> detection systems shall be installed in accordance with the appropriate UBC, Uniform <br /> Fire Code, National Fire Protection Standards, and Washington State Building Code <br /> Standards. <br /> Is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Installation. <br /> All approved automatic fire suppression systems and approved automatic fire <br /> detection systems shall be installed in accordance with the appropriate Everett <br /> Building Code, Everett Fire Code, National Fire Protection Association Standards and <br /> Washington State Building Code Standards. <br /> Section 6: Section 5 of Ordinance No. 1902-92 (EMC 16.76.050), which reads as <br /> follows: <br /> Alterations, repairs and building additions. <br /> The provisions of this chapter shall apply to all new buildings. Further, the provisions <br /> of this chapter shall also apply to all existing buildings which are altered or repaired <br /> when such alteration or repair within any seventy month period equals or exceeds <br /> fifty percent of the assessed value of the building as established by the Snohomish <br /> County assessor at the time of initial permit application. The value of the alterations <br /> or repairs shall be defined as set forth in the UBC. Existing buildings which exceed <br /> the area thresholds shall not be increased in size without complying with this chapter. <br /> Is hereby repealed. <br /> 5 <br />
