Acoustical Design Review— US Probation Court Office Acoustic Wall Assembly Installation Notes: The outer layer of GWB shall be sealed around the perimeter joint with a non - hardening acoustical sealant per ASTM C919: Standard Practice of Use of Sealants in Acoustical Applications. Retain a 1 /4" gap around the perimeter of the GWB to allow for the tip of the caulking gun into the gap. This is essential to properly seal the joint with a continuous bead of sealant. Use shims if necessary to maintain consistent gap. - Clean the joint of any dust and debris before applying sealant. Do not apply sealant before installing GWB. The joint must be sealed after to allow the sealant to conform to the gap. Apply the sealant clear back to the track and make sure it fills up to the underside of the GWB. After sealant has dried, it should be closely checked to make sure it has not slumped or separated causing air leaks. Sealant may need to be reapplied.
