Section F: Public Realm <br /> Tree Grates-Plaza trees may set in planters or in tree pits with tree grates. Tree grate surfaces <br /> in walkway areas shall be ADA compliant. The size is to be a minimum of 4'x 4', but larger <br /> grates should be used for larger trees. Each district should use only one type of tree grate. <br /> Planters, Pots and Boxes - Planters may be a part of plazas, pocket parks, and other open <br /> spaces. Planters should be raised 12"to 24" with seat walls at the edges to protect plants from <br /> pedestrian short cut paths and trampling. Plant pots and boxes must be at least 18"deep and <br /> have a minimum of an 18"diameter. <br /> Planting Integration with Art-Art can use planting to complement and enhance the art with <br /> color, fragrance, visual texture, and seasonal change and provide winter interest. <br /> Open Space Illumination <br /> Design Intent -The illumination of plaza and open spaces <br /> will increase safety and security, and add a provocative <br /> evening character. Illumination can add richness to <br /> Waterfront Place Central's unique urban maritime <br /> waterfront environment concept and character. The "�'�l. The development agreement calls for a dark sky to be maintained for nearby <br /> residents. Dark sky criteria includes using lighting that is shielded from the night sky and <br /> adjacent residential properties through down casting, exterior shields,and/or fixture optics. <br /> Illumination Quality and Levels - Light quality will have well balanced color produced by metal <br /> halide, halogen, LED, or incandescent bulbs.
