Should closure of the intersection in its entirety be necessary, and no trolley 1 <br />service is impacted, keep such closure to the minimum time required to place 2 <br />and compact the HMA mixture, plane, remove asphalt, tack coat, and as 3 <br />needed. 4 <br /> 5 <br />d. Any work in an intersection requires advance warning in both signage and a 6 <br />number of Working Days advance notice as determined by the Engineer, to alert 7 <br />traffic and emergency services of the intersection closure or partial closure. 8 <br /> 9 <br />e. Allow new compacted HMA asphalt to cool to ambient temperature before 10 <br />any traffic is allowed on it. Traffic is not allowed on newly placed asphalt until 11 <br />approval has been obtained from the Engineer. 12 <br /> 13 <br />2. Temporary centerline marking, post-paving temporary marking, temporary stop 14 <br />bars, and maintaining temporary pavement marking must comply with Section 15 <br />8-23. 16 <br /> 17 <br />3. Permanent pavement marking must comply with Section 8-22. 18 <br /> 19 <br />5-04.3(14)B2 Submittals - Planing Plan and HMA Paving Plan 20 <br />The Contractor must submit a separate planing plan and a separate paving plan to the 21 <br />Engineer at least 5 Working Days in advance of each operation’s activity start date. 22 <br />These plans must show how the moving operation and traffic control are coordinated, as 23 <br />they will be discussed at the pre-planing briefing and pre-paving briefing. When 24 <br />requested by the Engineer, the Contractor must provide each operation’s traffic control 25 <br />plan on 24 x 36 inch or larger size Shop Drawings with a scale showing both the area of 26 <br />operation and sufficient detail of traffic beyond the area of operation where detour traffic 27 <br />may be required. The scale on the Shop Drawings is 1 inch = 20 feet, which may be 28 <br />changed if the Engineer agrees sufficient detail is shown. 29 <br /> 30 <br />The planing operation and the paving operation include, but are not limited to, metal 31 <br />detection, removal of asphalt and temporary asphalt of any kind, tack coat and drying, 32 <br />staging of supply trucks, paving trains, rolling, scheduling, and as may be discussed at 33 <br />the briefing. 34 <br /> 35 <br />When intersections will be partially or totally blocked, provide adequately sized and 36 <br />noticeable signage alerting traffic of closures to come, a minimum 2 Working Days in 37 <br />advance. The traffic control plan must show where police officers will be stationed when 38 <br />signalization is or may be, countermanded, and show areas where flaggers are 39 <br />proposed. 40 <br /> 41 <br />At a minimum, the planing and the paving plan must include: 42 <br /> 43 <br />1. A copy of the accepted traffic control plan, see Section 1-10.2(2), detailing each 44 <br />day’s traffic control as it relates to the specific requirements of that day’s planing 45 <br />and paving.
