Sweeping of roadway 2 <br />surface is required prior to tack placement and paving. 3 <br /> 4 <br />The road shall be overlayed within 3 working days after planing operation for streets 5 <br />without loops. On streets where loops will be replaced, the overlay shall be completed 6 <br />within 8 working days after planing operation. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Sweepers following the grinding work will not be paid separately, and is included in the 9 <br />bid item “Planing Bituminous Pavement (2” Deep)”, per square yard. 10 <br /> 11 <br />For mainline planing operations, the equipment shall have automatic controls, with 12 <br />sensors for either or both sides of the equipment. The controls shall be capable of 13 <br />sensing the proper grade from an outside reference line, or a mat-referencing device. 14 <br />The automatic controls shall also be capable of maintaining the desired transverse slope. 15 <br />The transverse slope controller shall be capable of maintaining the mandrel at the 16 <br />desired slope (expressed as a percentage) within plus or minus 0.1 percent. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Pre-level course is not anticipated on any of the selected streets. If, however, after 19 <br />plaining operations, drivability issues cannot be resolved with 2” overlay, pre-level will be 20 <br />required as directed and paid for by “HMA Class 1/2” PG 64-22”, per ton. Contractor is 21 <br />strongly encouraged to bid the work to cover their cost of pre-level operations. 22 <br /> *** 23 <br /> 24 <br />5-04.3(14)B Paving and Planing Under Traffic 25 <br /> 26 <br />5-04.3(14)B1 General 27 <br />In addition, the requirements of Section 1-07.23 and the traffic controls required in 28 <br />Section 1-10, and unless the Contract specifies otherwise or the Engineer approves, the 29 <br />Contractor must comply with the following: 30 <br /> 31 <br />1. Intersections: 32 <br /> 33 <br />a. Keep intersections open to traffic at all times, except when paving or planing 34 <br />operations through an intersection requires closure. Such closure must be kept 35 <br />to the minimum time required to place and compact the HMA mixture, or plane 36 <br />as appropriate. For paving, schedule such closure to individual lanes or portions 37 <br />thereof that allows the traffic volumes and schedule of traffic volumes required in 38 <br />the approved traffic control plan. Schedule work so that adjacent intersections 39 <br />are not impacted at the same time and comply with the traffic control restrictions 40 <br />required by the Traffic Engineer. Each individual intersection closure or partial 41 <br />closure must be addressed in the traffic control plan, which must be submitted to 42 <br />and accepted by the Engineer, see Section 1-10.2(2). 43 <br /> 44 <br />b. When planing or paving and related construction must occur in an 45 <br />intersection, consider scheduling and sequencing such work into quarters of the 46 <br />intersection, or half or more of an intersection with side street detours. Be 47 <br />prepared to sequence the work to individual lanes or portions thereof. 48 <br /> 49
