2025 FEDERAL OVERLAY, W MUKILTEO BLVD – GLENWOOD AVE TO DOGWOOD DR <br /> PAGE SP68 OF SP123 SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />WORK ORDER #3842 April 15, 2025 FEDERAL AID# NHPP-2776(011) <br /> 1 <br /> 2 <br />DIVISION5.GR5 3 <br />Division 5 4 <br />Surface Treatments and Pavements 5 <br /> 6 <br />COE 5-04.RTF 7 <br />5-04 Hot Mix Asphalt 8 <br />(March 26, 2025 City of Everett based on January 31, 2023 APWA GSP) 9 <br /> 10 <br />Delete Section 5-04, Hot Mix Asphalt, and replace it with the following: 11 <br /> 12 <br />5-04.1 Description 13 <br />This Work shall consist of providing and placing one or more layers of plant-mixed hot 14 <br />mix asphalt (HMA) on a prepared foundation or base in accordance with these 15 <br />Specifications and the lines, grades, thicknesses, and typical cross-sections shown 16 <br />in the Plans. The manufacture of HMA may include warm mix asphalt (WMA) processes 17 <br />in accordance with these Specifications. WMA processes include organic additives, 18 <br />chemical additives, and foaming. 19 <br /> 20 <br />HMA shall be composed of asphalt binder and mineral materials as may be required, 21 <br />mixed in the proportions specified to provide a homogeneous, stable, 22 <br />and workable mixture. 23 <br /> 24 <br />5-04.2 Materials 25 <br />Materials shall meet the requirements of the following sections: 26 <br />Asphalt Binder 9-02.1(4) 27 <br />Cationic Emulsified Asphalt 9-02.1(6) 28 <br />Anti-Stripping Additive 9-02.4 29 <br />HMA Additive 9-02.5 30 <br />Aggregates 9-03.8 31 <br />Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) 9-03.8(3)B, 9-03.21 32 <br />Reclaimed Asphalt Shingles (RAS) 9-03.8(3)B, 9-03.21 33 <br />Mineral Filler 9-03.8(5) 34 <br />Recycled Material 9-03.21 35 <br /> 36 <br />The Contract documents may establish that the various mineral materials required for 37 <br />the manufacture of HMA will be furnished in whole or in part by the Contracting Agency. 38 <br />If the documents do not establish the furnishing of any of these mineral materials by the 39 <br />Contracting Agency, the Contractor shall be required to furnish such materials in the 40 <br />amounts required for the designated mix. Mineral materials include coarse and fine 41 <br />aggregates, and mineral filler. 42 <br /> 43 <br />The Contractor may choose to utilize recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) in the production 44 <br />of HMA. The RAP may be from pavements removed under the Contract, if any, or 45 <br />pavement material from an existing stockpile. 46 <br /> 47
