Geotechnical Engineering Evaluation
Mukilteo Boulevard Development
Everett, Washington
March 31, 2003
NGA File No. 366503
Page 2
SCOPE
The purpose of this study is to explore and characterize the subsurface soil and ground water conditions
within this site and present preliminary recommendations for site development. Specifically, our scope of
services includes the following:
Review available geologic and soils maps of the area.
2. Explore the site subsurface soil and ground water conditions with backhoe-excavated test
pits. The backhoe subcontracted by NGA.
3. Provide recommendations for site grading and earthwork, including structural fill.
4. Evaluate the potential for use of the on -site soils for structural fill.
5. Provide recommendations for foundation support and slabs -on -grade.
6. Provide recommendations for lateral soil pressures on retaining walls.
7. Provide recommendations for site drainage and erosion control.
8. Document our findings, recommendations, and conclusions in a written geotechnical
report.
SITE CONDITIONS
Surface Conditions
The project site is an approximately 2 acre, irregular -shaped parcel. The site layout is shown on the Site
Plan in Figure 2. The site measures approximately 500 feet in the east -west direction and 240 feet in the
north -south direction. The property is bordered to the north by Mukilteo Boulevard and to the east, south,
and west by residential lots.
Three single-family residences are currently located on the site, and a commercial building is located at
the northwest corner of the site. A residence was previously located near the southwest corner of the site,
that we understand has recently been demolished. A gazebo and a greenhouse are located south of the
central portion of the site. A detached garage is located south of the eastern residence. Several fences are
located within the site and along the site boundaries. A small rockery is located west of the central
residence, and a concrete retaining wall approximately 5 feet high is located north of this residence.
