b. Show on the plans the excavation, shoring, and restoration for removing the existing street light
pole and foundation and installing the proposed street light pole with deeper foundation.
Trench and road/sidewalk restoration must be called out per City of Everett Standards with
specific name and standard drawing number per the Design and Construction Standards
Manual: https://everettwa.gov/1531/Design-Construction-Standards.
3. The comments below were generated from this project's Traffic Engineering Reviewer. If you have any
questions regarding these comments, please contact Corey Hert with City of Everett's Traffic Engineering
Division (425-257-8887 or CHert@everettwa.gov).
a. Please specify the finish of the replacement street light poles (mill finish, powder coated,
anodized, etc.). The City's preference is mill finish for all new poles.
As the plans are specified with (3) 2" conduits and (1) 4" conduit, that will not fit in the pole
diameter that is specified. The pole also requires welded partitions.
i. Show a detail of the foundation with conduit stubs up into the partitions. The wires can
continue up the pole within the partitions without conduit. The detail shall identify the
conduit sizes and what each partition shall be used for, with City of Everett's street light
wire as the partition closest to the side of the pole that the luminaire arm is attached to
in order to feed the luminaire.
c. Provide details for the connection of the City street light into the City lighting circuit through the
pole foundation.
d. Detail A on the Valmont plans shows breakaway couplings on the foundation. These are not
used in the City of Everett. See Everett's pole base standards, showing it bolted directly to the
anchor bolts.
e. On the Valmont plans, the hand hole shown at the top of the pole by the luminaire arm needs to
be located on the same side as the luminaire arm in order to pull wire to the luminaire.
f. Remove banners from the pole on the Hewitt Site. These are no longer used.
g. Provide shop drawings for the poles.
h. Details 4 and 5 on page G-1 need to be revised. The City does not allow overhead feeds to the
street light poles. All poles must have underground services for power and data.
i. Show the cabinet for power service on the plans.
ii. Show the disconnect at your service location.
M. Show on the plans the trenching and pavement restoration for power and data service.
O3200 Cedar Street O 425.257.8810 © everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett, WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov/permits
Page 2 of 3
