Purpose and Intent. The required outdoor and common area standards for residentfal development 9 <br />ensure opportunitfes for healthy outdoor relaxatfon, recreatfon, or community gathering, and social 10 <br />interactfon places. The standards ensure that some of the land not covered by buildings is of adequate 11 <br />size, shape, and locatfon to be usable for outdoor recreatfon or relaxatfon. Required Both indoor and 12 <br />outdoor areas are an important aspect in addressing for the livability of a residentfal property. The 13 <br />standards also allow for common area requirements to be met by indoor community facilitfes because 14 <br />they also provide opportunitfes for recreatfon and gathering. 15 <br />B. Outdoor and Common Area Requirements. 16 <br />1. Definitfons or terms used in this sectfon: 17 <br />a. “Outdoor area” may be provided as private open space, such as a patfo or balcony, or 18 <br />may be provided as common open space, such as outdoor courtyards and outdoor play 19 <br />area. 20 <br />b. “Common area” may include outdoor common open space, or indoor common open 21 <br />space such as recreatfonal facilitfes, indoor community rooms, or other community 22 <br />gathering places. 23
