Bicycle Parking Space Locatfon and Design. 3 <br />1. Nonresidentfal Development. Bicycle facilitfes for nonresidentfal development shall include 4 <br />both short-term and long-term facilitfes. 5 <br />a. Short-term facilitfes are intended for patrons parked less than four hours. Weather 6 <br />protectfon is not required for short-term facilitfes. 7 <br />b. Long-term facilitfes are intended for employees and occupants of the nonresidentfal 8 <br />building. At least fifty percent of the required bicycle spaces shall be long-term facilitfes. 9 <br />These facilitfes shall be weather protected and conveniently located for the bicyclist in 10 <br />common areas. It is not necessary for all on-site bicycle spaces to be grouped in one 11 <br />central locatfon. 12 <br />2. Residentfal Development. Bicycle facilitfes for residentfal development shall be weather 13 <br />protected and conveniently located for the bicyclist in common areas. It is not necessary for all 14 <br />on-site bicycle spaces to be grouped in one central locatfon. 15 <br />3. All bicycle parking shall be located in locatfons that do not impede pedestrian or vehicle 16 <br />traffic flow, and shall be well lit for nighttime use. 17 <br />4. All bicycle parking facilitfes shall be designed to allow a bicycle frame to be locked to a 18 <br />structure (e.g., bike rack) which is securely anchored to the ground, or within a lockable storage 19 <br />area. 20 <br />5. The planning director or city engineer may promulgate rules for the design and locatfon of bicycle 21 <br />facilitfes required for development. 22
