<br />This sectfon defines uses set forth in Table 5-1 in EMC 19.05.080. 2
<br />“Adult family home” has the same meaning as RCW 70.128.010, which means a residentfal home in 3
<br />which a person or persons provide personal care, special care, room, and board to more than one but 4
<br />not more than six adults who are not related by blood or marriage to the person or persons providing 5
<br />the services. An adult family home may provide services to up to eight adults upon approval from the 6
<br />department under RCW 70.128.066. 7
<br />“Assisted living facility” means a residentfal facility for elderly persons (age fifty-five or older) who 8
<br />require moderate to extensive assistance with daily tasks such as cooking, eatfng, bathing, 9
<br />housekeeping, dispensing of medicines, shopping, appointments and other tasks. 10
<br />“Congregate care facility” means a residentfal facility for the elderly. The minimum age limit for the 11
<br />elderly is fifty-five years for the residents, with younger spouses permitted. The facility typically has a 12
<br />central lobby, common dining area, hobby and/or recreatfonal rooms. The fee structure shall include at 13
<br />least one meal per day in the common dining area. Accessory support uses for the tenants, such as 14
<br />pharmacies, banking service, etc., may be included. 15
<br />“Day care, family home” means day care provided in the home as an incidental use to the principal 16
<br />residentfal use of the property, for up to twelve children full tfme, or six adults full tfme, or as otherwise 17
<br />provided by the state of Washington. 18
<br />“Dormitory” means a building with sleeping accommodatfons, without in-room cooking facilitfes, for 19
<br />residents affiliated with an educatfonal, religious, or other instftutfon. 20
<br />“Dwelling” means any building that contains one or two dwelling units used, intended, or designed to be 21
<br />built, used, rented, leased, let or hired out to be occupied, or that are occupied for living purposes. 22
<br />“Dwelling unit ” means one or more habitable rooms designed to be occupied by one or more persons 23
<br />with shared facilitfes for living, sleeping, cooking, eatfng, and sanitatfon which meet the minimum 24
<br />requirements of EMC Title 16, Building and Constructfon, and in which all habitable rooms are internally 25
<br />accessible from within the dwelling. 26
<br />“Dwelling, cottage housing” means small, detached dwelling units clustered around a central common 27
<br />open space. 28
<br />“Dwelling, multfple-family” means a building(s) or portfon of a building arranged or designed to be 29
<br />occupied by five or more families living independently of each other. 30
<br />“Dwelling, one-unit” means a detached building designed for and occupied by only one household, 31
<br />sharing no common walls with other dwelling units, except an accessory dwelling unit (“ADU”). 32
<br />“Dwelling, three- to four-unit” means a building designed for and occupied by three or four households, 33
<br />living independently of each other in separate dwelling units. A three- to four-unit dwelling may be 34
<br />attached by a common wall or walls or stacked in a manner that individual dwelling units are located 35
<br />above or below other dwelling units. 36
