June 8, 2016 <br /> Katie Rathbun stated she will provide information about Vancouver's audit <br /> model. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher inquired about measurements that <br /> Transportation Network Companies are using to calculate the cost of a <br /> trip. <br /> Katie Rathbun stated she will look into the Uber's cost formula. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher suggested taking into consideration several <br /> safety principals that should be applied to both TNCs and taxi companies: <br /> an identification of a car, a driving records check, and a criminal records <br /> check. She asked the Police Department to provide recommendations on <br /> the background checks at a later date. <br /> Council Member Murphy recommended implementing regulatory <br /> oversight, and keeping safety concerns in mind as well as licensing <br /> requirements. He asked to bring this discussion back to the Council in the <br /> near future. <br /> David Maynard, Everett, spoke about the importance of public safety. <br /> Dan Tuffey, Everett, spoke about the differences in current regulations <br /> between taxi companies and TNCs. <br /> Jonathan Hapkins, Seattle, described Uber's operational model that <br /> prioritizes safety of customers and drivers. <br /> Sharon Booker, Everett, spoke about her experience driving for Uber and <br /> Uber's safety measurements. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher inquired about taxi rate changes in other <br /> communities, differences between TNC's and taxi's rates, and regulations <br /> recently adopted by the City of Olympia. <br /> Katie Rathbun stated she will report back to the Council with that <br /> information. <br /> 188 <br />
