Geotechnical Engineering Evaluation lierracon
Broadway& 10th Starbucks Everett, WA
January 9, 2014 Terracon Project No. 81135080
3.2 Regional Geology
According to the Geologic map of the Marysville quadrangle, Snohomish County, Washington
(Minard 1985), the site vicinity is underlain by Vashon-age glacial deposits. The primary soil
deposit is glacial till, with a typical thickness on the order of 10 to 30 feet. These soils are
described as a nonsorted mixture of clay, silt, sand, pebbles, cobbles, and boulders, typically
referred to as hardpan.
4.0 SITE CONDITIONS
Terracon representatives visited the project site during December of 2013 to evaluate surface
and subsurface conditions. We were not accompanied by any property owner representatives
during our visits, so we did not obtain any anecdotal information regarding existing utilities and
past site usage, though we were provided with an irrigation plan for the existing parking lot
development. Our geotechnical observations, measurements, findings, and interpretations are
described in the following text sections.
4.1 Development and Surface Features
The following paragraphs briefly discuss existing site development and surface features, as
observed, obtained, or inferred during our site reconnaissance. Appendix C contains graphical
information related to this discussion.
Surface Grades: Most of the site is fairly flat, with a gentle downward slope to the east.
Surface grades lie at an average surface elevation of about 110 feet (based on irrigation
plan by SiteWorkshop, LLC) and are at about the same elevation as adjacent grades.
West of the site, the ground steepens to a grade of 11% for about 45 feet.
Buildings: The lot is currently vacant except for the presence of temporary construction
trailers.
Pavements: Most of the site is currently covered by about 3 inches of asphaltic
pavement, which generally appears to be in good condition. We did not observe a
crushed gravel base course below the pavement.
Utilities: According to the provided site plan, irrigation pipes have been constructed
within the outer 10 to 20 feet of the site perimeter, with one spur into the center of the
site. At the time of this report, no details were available concerning the presence or
location of gas, water, sewer, electrical lines or other possibly buried utilities.
Vegetation: The site is currently devoid of vegetation.
Reliable _ Responsive - Convenient - Innovative 4
