The scope of our work consisted of exploring site surface and subsurface
conditions, and then developing this report to provide recommendations for erosion control and
general earthwork, in addition to design criteria for foundations and retaining walls. This work was
authorized by your acceptance of our proposal P-7862, dated September 30, 2009.
From the provided site plans, and discussions with George Hanson, your architect, we understand
' that a restaurant building will be constructed in the center of the site. This structure will have a
finish floor elevation that may be a few feet above the existing parking lot. Paved parking and
landscape beds will cover the remainder of the property. A retaining wall is planned along the north
side of the site where the ground will be excavated lower for parking.
•
' If the project scope of the changes from what we have described above, we should be provided
---- with revised plans in order to determine if modifications to the recommendations and conclusions of
this report are warranted.
•
•
• SITE CONDITIONS
SURFACE CONDITIONS
' The Vicinity Map, Plate 1, illustrates the general location of the site. The subject property is an
irregularly shaped lot situated immediately east of the existing Top Foods grocery store located at
1605 Southeast Everett Mall Way. The majority of this lot is currently covered by asphalt paving for
vehicle parking. Grass and landscape planter strips are located along the south, east and north
sides of the asphalt pavement. The majority of the lot is relatively flat, with the southern and
eastern landscape areas being a few feet higher in elevation than the asphalt pavement. Along the •
' north side of the site the ground slopes up from the asphalt to the northern property line. The total
elevation change across this landscaped slope area is only 4 to 5 feet on the eastern side of the
site, increasing to 8 to 9 feet on the western side of the lot. This slope is not steep, and appears to
' have been created by excavation when the site was previously developed and the parking lot was •
created.
