4. OFFSITE ANALYSIS
DEFINE STUDY AREA:
From observations made during the field visit, and the topographic survey, no upstream
off-site area is found to be tributary to this parcel. This is due to the existing topography
of the surrounding areas as well as the developed nature of this general area. The
downstream flow path is to the northwest corner of the site and into the alley. The
existing alley runoff is collected by a catch basin approximately 120-feet north of the site.
This catch basin is connected to the combined storm/sewer system within the alley.
Since this project is in the combined storm/sewer basin the connection of the swale runoff
to the sewer main in the alley will not have any adverse impacts on the downstream
system since this project is located near the upstream end of the existing main in the
alley.
REVIEW AVAILABLE INFORMATION:
This project is not located within a FEMA floodplain and no other basin plans or drainage
resource information has been located as this time.
FIELD INSPECTION: (Area of Disturbance Only)
This site slopes slightly to the west and northwest with the majority of the site runoff
flowing into the existing alley northwest of the project. However, there appears to be a
small amount of on-site runoff in the area of disturbance that leaves the site along the
northern property line. However, this runoff passes over the adjacent landscaping and is
also collected in the alley to the west. There were no indications of erosion or capacity
problems in the portion of the downstream system that could be observed.
DESCRIPTION OF DRAINAGE SYSTEM AND ANY EXISTING OR PREDICTED
PROBLEMS:
The downstream system for this project appears in good condition. The system consists
of sheet flow over landscaping or pavement and then a piped conveyance system.
PSKC Nassau 12-0411
July 2012 Page-7
