RDC EVERETT TRANSFER FACILITY Everett,Washington
summarized in Figure B-2. The plasticity chart relates the plasticity index (liquid limit minus the 1
plastic limit)to the liquid limit.
CBR Testing 1
A CBR test was performed on two samples obtained from the fill below the existing pavement
sections by collecting the drill cuttings. Samples from borings B-1 and B-2 were combined and
samples from borings B-6 and B-8 were combined. The CBR tests were performed in general
accordance with the ASTM D 1883 test procedure. The maximum dry density (MDD) and optimum
moisture content of the samples were determined in general accordance with ASTM D 1557. The 1
CBR samples were then remolded to between 89 and 97 percent of the MDD at approximately
the optimum moisture content as determined by ASTM D 1557. The samples were then soaked
for a minimum of 24 hours prior to testing. The results of the CBR test are presented in the
following table.
Sample Depth Percent Maximum 1 Exploration (feet) Soil Type Dry Density CBR(0.1")
90.7 15
B-1/B-2 1 to 3 SP/SM/GM 95.9 51
99.5 82
91.9 7 ,
B-6/B-8 1 to 3 SM 95.4 47
99.9 61 1
I
I
i
1
1
1
I
1
Page B-2 June 18,2013 GeoEngineers,Inc.
File No.4322-002-00
