DONNA L. BRESKE, P.E. 6621 Foster Slough Rd. Ph: 425-334-9980
Snohomish,WA 98290 Fax: 425-334-7380
e-mail:breske@consultmoore.com
September 13, 2007
City of Everett-Fire Department
Attn: Rick Robinson
2811 Oaks Ave.
Everett, WA 98204
Fax: 425-257-8139
Subject: Fire Department Access
Reference: Marlene Bissell 10-unit project, 12326 19th Ave SE
Dear Rick,
I am sending this letter as a follow up to our meeting of 9-12-07 with respect the
above referenced project. This meeting took place at the request of this engineer in order
to obtain clarification of Fire Department access and turn-around requirements. As
currently designed and shown on the Marlene Bissell Site Plan prepared by this engineer
and dated 3-15-07, the access road for the proposed 10-unit Marlene Bissell Project is
348-feet in length, measured from the property line. Per code, this triggers the need for a
Fire Department Apparatus turn-around.
Per our discussion the city of Everett Fire Department concurs that the access as
designed on the Site Plan dated 3-15-07, (with no turn-around), is acceptable to the city
with the following conditions:
1. All units, 1-10 must be fitted with a residential sprinkler system in compliance
with the requirements of NFPA Standard 13D.
2. A Fire Hydrant does not currently exist within 350' of all proposed buildings. A
new FH must be installed on the east side of 19th Ave. This will place the new FH
at a little more than 350' from the furthest proposed building, however, the Fire
Department is agreeable to this as the water main in 19th Ave is on the east side of
the street, and this will eliminate the need for excavation across 19th Ave.
Thank you for your effort in order to find a solution that is agreeable to all parties.
Sincerely,
cc: Marlene Bissell
Donna L. Breske, P.E. cc: Sid Roberts
