EAUG 2 8 2022 4
CITY OF EVERETT
Permit Services Inc.E O Group Northwest, Inc• Geoteehnical Engineers,Geologists
&Environmental Specialists
August 22m1 2022 G-5756
Mr. Ben Erickson
Email: ben@teamsquarefoot.com
Subject: Geotechnical Engineering Investigation
Proposed Addition
5010 Dover Street
Everett,Washington
Dear Mr.Erickson:
At your request, GEO Group Northwest, Inc., conducted a geotechnical engineering
investigation of the above-subject location for a proposed 13-foot addition to your house in
Everett,Washington. We understand that Phillips Creek and a geologically hazardous slope are
mapped onsite well into the existing property, and that the proposed addition will extend into this
critical area thus requiring an exemption to permit the project. The scope of our services included
a review of the geologic maps of the area and providing a characterization of the subsurface soil
and groundwater conditions encountered, preparation of boring logs(attached)and preparation
of this geotechnical report.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
We understand that an exemption is required to allow construction in the critical buffer because
the addition must not extend into the buffer more than the existing footprint of the house, the
deck in this case. The proposed structure is to be an additional 4 feet to the west and 11 feet to
the south, into the critical area. In this case the buffer shall be 25 feet beyond the point where the
slope becomes 25%or less. Then to maintain the integrity of the buffer a building setback
requirement is applied from the edge of the buffer of 10 feet. This would prohibit development
on this property which is why an exemption is required to permit the proposal.
13705 Bel-Red Road • Bellevue,Washington 98005
Phone 425/649-8757 • Fax 425/649-8758
