2
August 22nd 2022 G-5756
Ben Erickson Page 2
SITE CONDITIONS
Site Description
The project site is located in Everett,Washington, as illustrated in Plate 1—Site Location Map.
The parcel is rectangle-shape and consists of 0.47 acres. The site is bounded by other single
family residential properties to the north, south, and Dover Street to the east with a critical area
slope leading down to Philips Creek at the far west side of the property. The existing single-
family residence was built in 1987 and has approximately 1350 square feet of total living space
and the house is a two story, split level, with no basement.
Description of Proposed Development
The proposed addition will be an addition to the second story only that extends 13 feet to the
west and 11 feet to the south of the existing house in place of the current deck off the west most
side of the property. Please see Plate 2—Site Plan
SITE INVESTIGATION
Geologic Overview
Based on a review of the geologic map of the area, the project site overlies Transitional beds
(Qtb). These deposits typically consist of clay, silt and very fine to fine sand. These sediments
were deposited in still to slowly moving water, except coarse stream deposits in the lower
portion of the formation. These beds were deposited between glacial advance and retreat cycles
in the Fraser glaciation to Pre-Fraser Glaciation.
Subsurface Investigation
On August 8th a Staff Engineering Geologist from our firm, visited the site to perform a visual
reconnaissance of the site and investigate the subsurface soil conditions and critical area slope.
Two borings were drilled using hand-auger equipment. The boring locations are illustrated on
Plate 2—Site Plan. Hand Auger 1 (HA-1), consisted of a 2-inch layer of topsoil with mulch, that
was underlaid by grey-brown, dry, medium dense silt with a chalky laminated texture. At a depth
of 1 foot, the silt became very hard and the auger reached refusal.
GEO Group Northwest,Inc.
