This award will be used to fund public defense consultation and <br />representation services for indigent adults facing pending charges or charged in Everett <br />Municipal Court with offenses involving possession or public use of a controlled substance, <br />counterfeit substance, or legend drug. <br />This funding is reimbursement-based. The City will enter into a funding agreement with the <br />Office of Public Defense. <br />The grant period will run from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026 (the state fiscal year). <br />Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): <br />Accept the Washington State Office of Public Defense SPAR grant in the amount of $165,000 for <br />the state fiscal year 2026 (7/1/25 to 6/30/26) and authorize the Mayor or Mayor’s designee to <br />sign all necessary documents related to this grant award. <br /> <br />City Council Agenda Item Cover Sheet
