Geotechnical Engineering Evivation <br /> Mukilteo Boulevard Development <br /> Everett,Washington <br /> March 31,2003 <br /> NGA File No. 366503 <br /> Page 2 <br /> SCOPE <br /> The purpose of this study is to explore and characterize the subsurface soil and ground.water conditions <br /> within this site and present preliminary recommendations for site development. Specifically,our scope of <br /> services includes the following: <br /> 1. Review available geologic and soils maps of the area. <br /> 2. Explore the site subsurface soil and ground water conditions with backhoe-excavated test <br /> pits. The backhoe subcontracted by NGA. <br /> 3. Provide recommendations for site grading and earthwork,including structural fill. <br /> 4. Evaluate the potential for use of the on-site soils for structural fill. <br /> 5. Provide recommendations for foundation support and slabs-on-grade. <br /> 6. Provide recommendations for lateral soil pressures on retaining walls. <br /> 7. Provide recommendations for site drainage and erosion control. <br /> 8. Document our findings, recommendations, and conclusions in a written geotechnical <br /> report. <br /> SITE CONDITIONS <br /> Surface Conditions <br /> The project site is an approximately 2.acre, irregular-shaped parcel. The site layout:is shown on the Site <br /> Plan in Figure 2. The site measures approximately 500 feet in the east-west direction and 240 feet in the <br /> north-south direction. The property is bordered to the north by Mukilteo Boulevard and to the east,south, <br /> and west by residential lots. <br /> Three single-family residences are currently located on the site, and a commercial building is located at <br /> the northwest corner of the site. A residence was previously located near the southwest corner of the site, <br /> that we understand has recently been demolished. A gazebo and a greenhouse are located south of the <br /> central portion of the site. A detached garage is located south of the eastern residence. Several fences are <br /> located within the site and along the site boundaries. A small rockery is located west of the central <br /> residence,and a concrete retaining wall approximately 5 feet high is located north of this residence.
