T&D Weaver Construction
Plan Check Number: M2303-045, First Building Review
March 21, 2023
2. Roof Plan 1/1-1-04 shows a new MUA fan centered on the framing. The following comments
should be addressed:
a. The weight of the unit should be specified in the schedule on Sheet H-07. See IBC Section
1603.1.8.
b. Calculations should be submitted for review substantiating the capacity of the roof framing
to support the new rooftop equipment, including the underhung hood, in addition existing
dead and roof loads (e.g., snow, etc.). See IBC Section 1604.2.
3. The hood should comply with the minimum 18-inch required clearance per IMC Section 507.2.6.
The clearance is required on all sides and the top. Alternatively, the drawings should specify
construction complying with the reduced clearances per Table 308.4.2. Note that modifications
to the building structure are required to be performed as part of the Building permit application
per comments above.
4. Continuing with the previous comment, the exhaust duct for the hood is required to provide the
minimum 18-inch required clearance per IMC Section 506.3.6. Alternatively, construction per
one of the exceptions should be specified.
5. Details specifying the vertical support and lateral restraint for the hood should be included in
the drawings. The details should be specific to the current project; the manufacturer's generic
typical details do not satisfy this requirement. See IBC Sections 1603.1, 1604.2, and 1604.4.
6. The upblast exhaust fan details on Sheet H-07 should specify a flexible electrical cable and
restraint. See IMC Section 506.5.4.
This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and
amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made
during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit
requirements. The designers-of-record are responsible for a complete design in accordance with
the laws of the state of Washington.
If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact us.
Respectfully,
Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer/ Commercial Plans Examiner
(425)257-8813
dmartin@everettwa.gov
S:\BMartin\2023\M2303-045_R1.docx
S
3200 Cedar Street 425.257.8810 everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett,WA 98201 425.257,8857 fax everettwa.gov/permits
Page 2 of 2
