ORDINANCE NO. -_ ''_. . <br /> An ordinance levying the general taxes for the city <br /> of Everett for the fiscal year commencing January 1 , 1917 , on all <br /> taxable property, both real and personal , in said city subject to <br /> taxation therein for the purpose of raising sufficient revenue to <br /> carry on the different departments of said city for the ensuing <br /> fiscal year, as required by the Charter of said city, prescribing <br /> and apportioning the same among the different funds of said city <br /> for said fiscal year, providing for the collection thereof , and <br /> repealing all ordinances in conflict therewith, <br /> WHEREAS, on the llth day of September , 1916, the City <br /> Council did duly and regularly adopt an, estimate of the amount <br /> required to meet the public expenses of said City for the ensuing <br /> year and the amount to be raised by taxation in said city for said <br /> ensuing year and the estimated amount of the receipts for the en— <br /> suing yea r from sources other than direct taxation; and <br /> WHEREAS, said estimate together with the notice that <br /> said City Council would meet on the first Monday in October, 1916, at <br /> the City Hall of said city for the purpose of making tax levies, as <br /> stated in said estimates, was published in the official newspaper of <br /> said city, in all respects as required by law; and <br /> WHEREAS, said time for considering said estimates and <br /> tax levies has now arrived and said City Council , having heard all <br /> taxpayers appearing in favor of or against said proposed tax levies, <br /> does hereby make, determine and decide the amount of taxes to be <br /> levied upon the current assessment rolls to be the sum of two hundred <br /> thirty seven thousand five hundred ($237,600) dollars, apportioned <br /> as hereinafter described. <br />
