Element 5: Stabilize Soils (2.1.5)
West of the Cascade Mountains Crest
Season
Dates
Number of Days Soils Can
be Left Exposed
During the Dry Season
May 1 — September 30
7 days
During the Wet Season
October 1 — April 30
2 days
Soils must be stabilized at the end of the shift before a holiday or weekend if needed based on
the weather forecast.
Anticipated project dates: Start date: 8/1/2022 End date: 8/1/2023
Will you construct during the wet season?
Yes
List and describe BMPs: BMP C121, Mulching: During construction, mulch can be
placed to prevent raindrops from impacting exposed soils causing erosion. Straw is the
most common method of mulching.
BMP C107, Construction Road/Parking Area Stabilization: The staging area will be
stabilized with rock (pulverized concrete). Foundations and walkways will be stabilized
with the base course of rock.
BMP C123, Clear Plastic Covering: This involves covering a bare area with clear plastic
that protect it from erosion from rainfall. This BMP will be used on this site to provide
cover of temporary stockpiles.
Installation Schedules: In planting areas the exposed soils will be stabilized per BMPs C121,
C123. In paved areas the soils will be stabilized by the placement of the rock base course as
part of C107. Temporary stockpiles will be mulched, seeded or covered with plastic.
Inspection and Maintenance plan: These measures will be implemented throughout the site
construction until exposed surfaces are finally stabilized.
Responsible Staff: CESCL and Contractor
