I am
the planner assigned to the review your permit.
Having reviewed your plans, Planning asks for the following plan modifications/additions, specifically to the design of
your pylon sign (page 11, sign EXT-003), per standards for freestanding signs in EMC 19.36.050(A), with reference to sign
category A within Table 36-2 of EMC 19.36.040:
• The lettering on the pylon sign should be at least 6" (your plans show 5%")
• The width of the pylon must be at least half the width of the sign itself(your proposed sign face is 8'6%", so a
minimum of nearly 4'4")
• Everett Code requires protective landscaping "at least three feet in all directions from the sign structure", with
landscaping an area at least 1:1 with the sign face area of the freestanding sign, per EMC 19.36.050(A)(3). Please
submit a site plan detail showing this, including details of landscaping per code.
The other signs in the package (both wall signs and directional, etc.) appear to be within Code requirements.
Please also note that these comments do not constitute an exhaustive plan check review. These comments are only
related to the land use code, and do not account for all possible requirements either from Planning or other
departmental reviewers.
