CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />Water Main Replacement “Y” – Ph 2 Div 2 – EARTHWORK October 2025 <br />Work Order No. UP 3814 SP-147 <br />Category 2: Sensitive information <br />Category 2: For official use only / disclosure permissible by law. <br /> <br />DIVISION 2 – EARTHWORK <br />2-01 CLEARING, GRUBBING AND ROADSIDE CLEANUP <br />2-01.2 Disposal of Usable Material and Debris <br />Supplement 2-01.2 by adding the following: <br />When requested by the property owner, trim trees of sufficient size for firewood, cut into <br />two-foot rounds and neatly stack on adjacent property. Remove and dispose of stumps, <br />large roots, limbs, and branches. <br />2-01.2(1) Disposal Method No.1 – Open Burning <br />Delete the first paragraph and substitute the following. <br />Opening burning is not permitted within the city limits. <br />2-01.4 Measurement <br />Delete all paragraphs of 2-01.4 and substitute the following: <br />Bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be measured as <br />described in Division B – Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and Section <br />1-09 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br />2-01.5 Payment <br />Delete all paragraphs in 2-01.5 and substitute the following: <br />Payment for bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be <br />as described in Division B – Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and <br />Section 1-09 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br />If there is no bid item to cover clearing and grubbing, then clearing and grubbing shall <br />be included with other work with no direct compensation made. <br /> <br />2-02 REMOVAL OF STRUCTURES AND OBSTRUCTIONS <br />2-02.1 Description <br />Delete 2-02.1 and substitute the following: <br />The Work shall consist of the removal, disposal or abandoning in-place of various <br />existing improvements including, but not limited to, pavements, structures, pipe, curbs, <br />curb and gutter, gutter, valves, manholes, catch basins and other items necessary for <br />the accomplishment of the improvement. <br />All Work with asbestos-cement pipe shall conform to the “Recommended Standard <br />Asbestos-Cement Pipe Work Practice Procedure and Training Requirements,” latest <br />edition, as published by the American Water Works Association, Pacific Northwest <br />Section. Remove and dispose of Asbestos-Cement pipe in accordance with the <br />practices specified by the State of Washington Department of Ecology and the <br />Snohomish County Solid Waste Division. <br />2-02.3 Construction Requirements <br />2-02.3(2) Removal of Bridges, Box Culverts, and Other Drainage Structures <br />Supplement 2.02.3(2) by adding the following: <br />When removing structures such as manholes, inlets, or vaults that interfere with the <br />construction, properly plug all pipe openings abandoned in-place watertight with <br />Commercial Concrete, or with mortar and masonry, blocks or brick.
