CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />Water Main Replacement “Y” – Ph 2 Div 2 – EARTHWORK October 2025 <br />Work Order No. UP 3814 SP-148 <br />Category 2: Sensitive information <br />Category 2: For official use only / disclosure permissible by law. <br />Backfill voids with suitable job excavated material where structures are removed. <br />Compact suitable backfill material in accordance with 2-03.3(14)C. <br />If the Engineer determines the job-excavated material unsuitable for backfill then <br />Contractor shall obtain Gravel Borrow or CDF as directed, to complete backfilling <br />the voids. If a pay item for Gravel Borrow or CDF is not included in the Proposal, <br />then providing Gravel Borrow or CDF for backfill shall be considered as Extra Work <br />under 1-04.4. <br />(June 26, 2000 WSDOT GSP) <br />The Contractor shall remove the following portions of Bridge *** 645W (I-5 Southbound <br />over the Snohomish River) ***, as shown in the Plans: <br />*** Existing 8-inch water line and water line supports *** <br />(******) <br />The existing water line shall remain in place and functioning until the new water line is <br />installed and tested by the contractor, and in operation. The Contractor shall obtain <br />approval from the COE utility department prior to removing and disposing of the existing <br />8-inch DIP water line and associated supports. The Contractor shall disassemble and <br />remove the above ground water line pipe, fittings, supports and all other system <br />appurtenances from the all portions of the bridge, including girders, columns and <br />crossbeams, and in-ground pipe to a depth of 3 feet minimum below the ground surface, <br />and plug the abandoned underground pipe in accordance with Section 2-02.3(5) of these <br />Special Provisions. <br />Cut existing anchors in concrete to a depth of 1” below the concrete surface and grout <br />with an approved epoxy grout. <br />2-02.3(3) Removal of Pavement, Sidewalks, Curbs, and Gutters <br />Delete 2-02.3(3) and substitute the following: <br />2-02.3(3) Removal of Existing Street Improvements <br />(******) <br />2-02.3(3)A Description <br />The Work shall consist of the removal and disposal of various existing <br />improvements including, but not limited to, pavements, curb, curb and gutter, gutter, <br />and other items necessary for the accomplishment of the improvement. <br />2-02.3(3)B Removal of Pavement <br />Remove full depth existing permanent type pavement and driveway pavement <br />shown on the Plans or as directed by the Engineer. <br />Replace, at no expense to the City, existing pavement designated to remain that is <br />damaged during the pavement or concrete base removal. <br />2-02.3(3)B1 Sawcutting <br />Make vertical full depth saw cut between existing asphalt concrete pavement, <br />to remain and the portion to be removed. <br />Where asphalt concrete pavement overlays cement concrete pavement base, <br />saw cut in accordance with 2-02.3(6) Sawing and Line Drilling. <br />2-02.3(3)C Removal of Curb, Curb and Gutter <br />Remove existing curbs where shown on the Plans or where encountered in the <br />Work and designated by the Engineer. <br />Existing curb and gutter include, but is not limited to, cement concrete, cement <br />concrete curb with a brick gutter and a cement concrete back, or other combinations
