CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />Water Main Replacement “Y” – Ph 2 Div 2 – EARTHWORK October 2025 <br />Work Order No. UP 3814 SP-149 <br />Category 2: Sensitive information <br />Category 2: For official use only / disclosure permissible by law. <br />of rigid materials. Remove the entire curb and gutter section, regardless of material <br />composition. <br />2-02.3(3)C1 Sawcutting <br />Make vertical full depth saw cut between existing curb or curb and gutter to <br />remain and the portion to be removed. <br />2-02.3(3)D Removal of Cement Concrete Sidewalks <br />Concrete slabs that average four-inches or less in thickness will be considered as <br />sidewalk removal. <br />Protect existing concrete walk that is to remain in place, from equipment damage <br />by using planking or cover with rock free eight-inch thick blanket of excavated soil. <br />Provide Engineer with proposed pavement breakers before use and do not begin <br />breaking pavement without Engineer’s approval of the pavement breakers. <br />2-02.3(3)D1 Sawcutting <br />Make vertical full depth saw cut between existing cement concrete sidewalk to <br />remain and the portion to be removed at the nearest scribe marks beyond the <br />neat line limits, or to the nearest joint. <br />No diagonal cuts in sidewalk will be allowed unless otherwise indicated on the <br />Plans or directed by the Engineer. <br />2-02.3(3)E Removal of Catch Basins, Manholes, Inlets or Sumps <br />Excavate and completely remove the structure including, but not limited to, casting <br />and outlet trap, concrete encasement, and bricks, as applicable to each removal <br />item listed in the Proposal. <br />Plug existing connecting pipes that remain by filling with Commercial Concrete a <br />minimum length of 24–inches into the pipe. Backfill shall be Gravel Borrow as <br />specified in 9-03.14(1). Compact backfill to a minimum of 95 percent maximum <br />density in accordance with 2-03.3(14)D. <br />Supplement 2-02.3 by adding the following sections: <br />2-02.3(4) Obliteration of Pavement Markings <br />(******) <br />Remove pavement markings where shown on the Plans or where designated by the <br />Engineer. Obliterate pavement marking until blemishes caused by the pavement <br />marking removal conform to the coloration of the adjacent pavement. If the pavement is <br />materially damaged by pavement marking removal operation, Contractor shall repair the <br />pavement damage, at the Contractor's expense, to a condition equal to existing <br />pavement that had no markings obliterated. Remove sand or other material deposited <br />on the pavement as a result of removing stripes and markings as the Work progresses <br />to avoid hazardous conditions. Accumulation of sand or other material that might <br />interfere with drainage will not be permitted. <br />2-02.3(5) Abandon Pipe In-place <br />(******) <br />Plug pipe ends of pipes designated on Plans being abandoned in-place using <br />commercial concrete. If designated on Plans, fill abandoned in-place pipe with <br />Controlled Density Fill as specified in 2-09.3(1)E. <br />Where asbestos-cement pipe is encountered and necessary to move for proposed <br />improvements, all work shall conform to requirements specified in 1-07.5(4)C and 2- <br />02.1. The pipe shall be buried in place within the same trench, clear of proposed pipe <br />and fitting bedding zone, without transporting hazardous materials off-site. The
