person shall begin the construction, erection, , alteration or <br /> repair, removal or demolition of any building without first taking <br /> out such permit therefor, he shall, when subsequently taking out <br /> such permit, be required to pay double the fees hereinbefore and <br /> hereinafter provided, and shall be subject to all penal provisions <br /> of this ordinance. <br /> Section 2: That Section 125 of said Ordinance No. 1260, <br /> be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> ELEVATORS. <br /> Section 125 (a) : Every passenger elevator shall be fully <br /> equipped with efficient devices for safely stopping the car in <br /> case of accident to the cables or machinery. Worm gear machines <br /> shall be provided with automatic stop and slack cable shifters. <br /> Every electric passenger elevator shall have a safety <br /> switch located in the car to enable the operator to cut off the <br /> current supply in the motor in case of necessity. Every electric <br /> passenger elevator shall be equipped with an automatic car safety <br /> device mounted underneath the platform and connected to an automatic <br /> speed governor at the top of the shaft; with a safety brake and stop <br /> motion device on the machine; with limit switches in the shaft which <br /> automatically stop the engine when the car reaches the upper or <br /> lower limits of travel. Every drum type electric passenger elevator <br /> engine shall be equipped with a slack cable device to stop the <br /> machine in case the car meets an obstruction when descending or when <br /> the cables become loose or slack from any other cause, and such <br /> slack cable device must be so arranged as to make it necessary to <br /> reset it at the machine. <br /> Every hydraulic elevator shall be equipped. with an <br /> automatic device for stopping the car at the upper and lower limits <br /> of travel, and every hydraulic machine other than those of the <br /> Plunger Type shall be equipped with an automatic car safety device <br />
