use any device or apparatus for burg fuel oil, stove oil or dis- <br /> tillate, or any devleeor apparatus whereby gas is generated from such <br /> oil for purposes Of. fuel, unless such plant be constructed., erected,, <br /> maintained and operated in accordance with the following specifications,, <br /> `to-wit <br /> First: STORAGE TANKS; CAPACITY: The storage tank for oil shall <br /> not exceed fifteen thousand (15,000) gallons in capacit .° It shall <br /> be constructed or boiler iron or steel not less than thee-sixteenths <br /> ( 3/16 ) of an inchi in thickness, coated with tar or other rust resist- <br /> ing material and shall be buried not less than four (4) feet under <br /> ground, except as hereinafter provided. Such storage tank shall be <br /> provided with a manhole, with a boiler plate cover to the tops: of the <br /> tank, which: shall lbe flanged and screwed down, with a cover at the <br /> surface of the ground, which" shall be of a design, approved by ,the <br /> chief of the fire{ department, and in case it is located in a public <br /> place, by the .commissioner of public works'. <br /> The space within the manhole between the cover at the toy <br /> of the tank and that, at the surface of the ground, shall, when the <br /> manhole is not in use, be filled with sacks of sand to, prevent the <br /> accumulation Of gas or vapor. <br /> Storage, tanks shall be connected with a steam boiler or <br /> steam pipe and shall be blown out before being entered for cleaning or <br /> other purposes.
