ORDINANCA NO. <br /> An ordinance relating to the payment of witness fees in <br /> the Police Court of the city of Averett, and in the Superior Court of <br /> Snohomish County, and requiring the clerk of the Police Court to <br /> keep a record of the attendance of all witnesses in said court, and <br /> declaring an emergency. <br /> THA CITY OF .r;VARATT DOGS ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That the clerk of the Police Court of the city <br /> of .Lverett be and he is hereby required to keep a record of the <br /> attendance of all witnesses who are entitled to witness fees in the <br /> Police Court of the city of Averett, and such record shall show the <br /> name of the witness, number of miles traveled, the number of days <br /> each person appeared as a witness in said court, and the name of <br /> the case in which said witness appeared. Said clerk is hereby <br /> required to secure a book for the purpose of keeping said record. <br /> Section 2: All persons attending as witnesses for the <br /> city ofAverett in the Police Court of said City, and all persons <br /> attending as witnesses for the defendant in said court when such <br /> defendant is entitled to his costs, as provided by laws shall be <br /> entitled to witness fees from said City; provided, that no person <br /> shall be entitled to witness fees from said City,unless such person <br /> at or before the time of the trial of the case in which such person <br /> appears as a witness, claims witness fees in such case and signs the <br /> book in which the record of attendance of witnesses is kept. <br /> Section 3: The clerk of the Police Court shall, at the <br /> first of each month, make a written statement to the city council <br /> showing the name of each person entitled to witness fees for the <br /> preceeding month, the amount of fees which each person is entitled <br /> to, and when such statement is approved by the city attorney and the <br /> judge of the Police Court such fees so approved shall be paid as <br /> other claims against the City are paid. <br />
