January 14, 2026 <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />Council Member Rhyne reported on her attendance at the Port Garnder Neighborhood <br />Association meeting and a presentation by Deb Fox, local historian, artist, and author. She also <br />reminded the public that United States Postal Service postmark regulations have changed and to <br />be aware for submitting ballots for the upcoming February 10th election. <br /> <br />President Schwab advised that the Council retreat is scheduled for Saturday, January 31st from 9 <br />a.m.to 3 p.m. in the Weyerhaeuser Room at Everett Station. <br /> <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATION UPDATE <br /> <br />Senior Executive Director Lori Cummings did not have any update. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY <br /> <br />City Attorney David Hall requested a 15-minute executive session, pursuant to RCW <br />42.31.110(1)(i) with Council action to follow. <br /> <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> <br />Council recessed to the Executive Session at 7:16 p.m. The Executive Session began at 7:17 p.m. <br />and ended at 7:32 p.m. Council reconvened at 7:34 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />SETTLEMENT – WORKER’S COMPENSATION <br /> <br />Moved by Council Member Bader, seconded by Council Member Rhyne, to authorize the Mayor <br />to execute a settlement agreement for a Worker’s Compensation claim by former bus operator <br />Theresa Herod in the amount of $75,000. <br /> <br /> <br />Roll was called with all council members voting yes, except Council Member Weir who was <br />excused. <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />SETTLEMENT – WORKER’S COMPENSATION <br />
